Get Coco-nutty!

Who says you have to take aging lying down?  Aside from fillers and botox, there are many ways to slow down the aging process and even age gracefully.  I was taught at 12 years old to take care of my skin - this meant wash, moisturize, and wearing sunscreen when needed, and I know it has made all the difference!  I love to wear foundation as it evens out my skin tone, and just adds a beautiful glow without covering up my freckles.  Some foundation (most on the market) have sunscreen built in to the formula, saving a step and precious time.  This can be your be your best friend.  I like to mix my foundation with my favorite moisturizer to make my own BB cream  - (COCONUT oil is AMAZING....I can't say enough great things about this miracle moisturizer).  It does not have to be expensive moisturizer, whatever fits in your budget - the important part is that you moisturize.  You will often find that people who live in drier climates have to do double-duty when it comes to the skin on their face.  At age 39, I have slightly noticeable lines around my eyes and mouth when I laugh and I would not change those lines for the world.  Lines show you who you have become. I love knowing each day I see myself in the morning that those laugh lines were well earned and have the highest respect in my book.  For more DIY skin care tips, go to SELF.com for tips from the beauty editors at Self Magazine.

Honey & Beeswax

When the founder of Shelissa Organics was a child, her fondest memories are of spending time on her family's farm on the Chesapeake Bay learning how to harvest honey from the hives with her grandfather. It harkens back to the days when children ran through fields until sunset, running into the house with handfuls of wildflowers, rare stones collected in their pockets, and dirt on their hands. To this day, she drizzles honey on her breakfast or in her tea everyday.

Honey and beeswax have long been documented for healing sore throats and for boosting the immune system. Seasonal allergy suffers are wise to eat local honey to reduce allergies and a teaspoon in a cup of warm milk can calm a cough. For centuries, honey has been used as an exfoliant for the body and gentle enough to use on the face and scalp. For 19 years Shelissa Organics® has crafted extraordinary products with ethically and sustainably harvested beeswax and locally found ingredients. Our time-honored process and unique formulas produce goods without parabens, petroleum, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, or non-GMO ingredients.
